We welcome our Visiting Fellow, Dr. Zhan

We welcome Dr. Mengshu Zhan, our Visiting Fellow, to the Center for African Studies at Howard University. She will be with us for the month of October.

Dr. Zhan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Africa-China Studies, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She holds a PhD from the Centre for Global Studies at Bonn University in Germany. Her research interests include China-Africa relations, and EU-China-Africa Trilateral relations with a focus on the economy, infrastructure and energy.

New Course! Miracles of Mary

Register for the New Special Topics Course - Miracles of Mary (#AFST122). It meets online on Tuesdays 5:10 - 7:30 pm with Dcn. Dawit Muluneh and Dr. Krista Johnson.

This course examines the narratives, themes, and theological significance of Marian miracles within the Ethiopian Orthodox tradition. Students will explore the historical context, spiritual teachings, and cultural impact of these miracles, gaining a deeper understanding of Ethiopic literature.
