FOR STUDENTS: FLAS Fellowships support students taking African languages and area studies coursework. The fellowships support intensive for-credit study of an African language and promote the development of competency in African Studies either in the United States or abroad.

FOR FACULTY: The AFEE Program supports interdisciplinary, Africa-related initiatives at Howard University. The goal of the program is to improve and enhance student learning, curriculum development, teaching, professional development, and research related to Africa.

FOR FACULTY: The Center for African Studies offers a one-week residency at the Howard University campus to faculty at community and four-year colleges. The purpose of the residency is to build capacities in Africa-related studies at institutions that teach Africa or are contemplating developing units on Africa. 

FOR FACULTY: The Center for African Studies sponsors two or more community college faculty to take part in the CAORC Community College Faculty Development Seminar at the West African Research Center in Dakar, Senegal each year.
