Howard University student Malik Ngugi spoke before Vice President Kamala Harris at the Museum of African American History and Culture on April 5, 2023, where the VP was giving a briefing on her recent trip to Africa. Malik, a junior in political science and Spanish major, shared his reflections on Harris's historic visit to Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia.

In December 2022, Dr. Saïs Kamalidiin, Associate Professor of Music at Howard, led a group of Howard University musical artists and scholars from The Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts to Dakar, Senegal for a musical arts intensive featuring visits to all the centers of higher musical education located in Dakar, Senegal, with meetings with former Senegalese Minister of Culture, Youssou N'Dour and MacArthur Fellowship recipient, Tomeka Reid.
