Our Zulu students have arrived in Johannesburg!
Our Zulu students have arrived in Johannesburg as part of the HU Zulu in South Africa (HUZISA) Study Abroad Program. This year our new instructor Sipho Sithole is leading the program which is a 6-week study abroad program for immersion in both the language and the culture of the Zulu people of South Africa. Using instruction and experiential learning of Zulu culture within diverse Zulu communities, participants in HUZISA may look forward to receiving 140 credit hours in isiZulu language and culture while in the beautiful and dynamic country of South Africa. They will be visiting in the provinces of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, to include both urban and rural settings. Activities for the program will focus on the language, history, and culture of the Zulu people in the following location-specific phases:
- Gauteng: cosmopolitan phase (Johannesburg and Pretoria)
- Kwazulu-Natal: rural and semi-rural phase (Dundee, Ulundi, and KwaNongoma)
- KwaZulu-Natal: urban and peri-urban phase (Durban and surrounding areas)
