FACULTY OPENING: Professor of African Studies at Howard University
The Department of African Studies invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of full Professor. We seek applications from exceptional candidates with a well-respected and internationally established record in African Studies. The applicant’s teaching and pedagogical background should demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches that harmonize various social science and humanities fields and facilitate multidimensional teaching, research and analysis of political, economic and socio-cultural development issues in Africa. Specialization in teaching and research on development and public policy in Africa will be an advantage.

The Africa-China Initiative at the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University is pleased to partner with the Center for African Studies at Howard University to offer a one-year ACI Research Fellowship. The purpose of the ACI Fellowship is bring African scholarship, expertise, and perspectives on Africa-China (and more broadly, Africa-Asia and Global South) research to Georgetown and Howard faculty and students, research and policy centers, and government agencies in the Washington, DC area.

Executive Education Program
The Executive Education Program of the Center for African Studies at Howard University is a niche program that is designed for working professionals engaged in African affairs. It aims to enable management teams, boards of directors, senior leaders, mid-career professionals, and emerging young leaders to realize their full potential when they lead projects that are located in Africa or involve the African diaspora. Like many executive programs, our target audience includes government agencies, international organizations, and global businesses.

Welcome to the launch of Bouctou, an Africana Magazine for Teachers and Students! The vision behind Bouctou is to create an accessible and appealing online resource for the K-12 classroom by providing informative articles, scholarly research and engaging commentary, and to support the curriculum by contributing quality Africa-focused resources and material.

A priority for our Center is to facilitate and nurture a community of HU scholars with interest in Africa. Affiliated Faculty at the Center for African Studies devote at least 25 - 100% of their research, teaching, and/or service to the study of Africa and represent a wide range of departments and colleges across campus.
We include all faculty with active or aspirational research and/or teaching interests in Africa as affiliated faculty, and look forward to promoting their work and scholarship on our website and throughout our networks. We invite faculty to share with us what they are doing so that we can publicize it to a wider audience.
Affiliate faculty are eligible for CfAS course and travel awards, research grants, funding for books, and more.
