The Outreach Program at Howard University's Center for African Studies is hosting the first meeting of the Mwalimu Teaching Community. We invite educators and librarians engaged in teaching, reading and learning about Africa to join the group. During our first meeting we will work together to set goals and objectives. We will host additional meetings of the Mwalimu Teaching Community based on input we receive from you.

Come with your ideas and suggestions.  We also invite you to bring an original lesson/activity about Africa. Outstanding lessons will be included in our Best Practices Guide and may be submitted for the 'New Teacher Award' presented by the Outreach Council of the African Studies Association.The winner of the award will receive funding to attend the National Council on Social Studies Conference or National Council for Teachers of English Conference in 2018.

We will also distribute promotional materials for Read Africa Week 2018, a collaborative program we sponsor with Africa Access.
